Prophylaxis
Dental prophylaxis is one of the most imperative procedure in every patient’s oral care for disease prevention and to be sure cavities do not develop. Prophylaxis, which usually referred to as dental cleaning, is recommended at least every six months, unless otherwise recommended by our Westlake Village dentist.

Dental sealants can be considered a type of varnish that helps fill cracks and openings in the teeth after being applied by our dentist, forming a barrier against harmful bacteria.
Fluoride rinse and mouthwashes can often be used to improve tooth enamel. However, these products are adequate in fully penetrating tooth surfaces, especially those filled with tiny cracks where food can become lodged. For this reason, our Westlake Village dentist strongly recommends applying sealants to permanent molars and premolars. Sealants can last anywhere from five to ten years with proper care.
